TOPIC: Plans for Z-Day 2010

Well, showing at least Zeitgeist: Addendum is a must, and then some Q&A time. Food and beverages are a necessity, too. Maybe even present the New Zealand Project to show that we're serious about it and working on it right now, and maybe Annie Leonard's The Story of Stuff would be a good clip to show in regards to the ecological reasons we need this.

Maybe we could throw together some resources for people who want to help or start their own group and have a few of us take a few people at a time and get them ready/motivated/able to form their own groups/chapters within WV, or where ever they go.

That's all I have off of the top of my head.

That's a good idea. Some friends of mine, as well as myself are trying to get a group together at our college and educate people. But we aren't exactly sure where to start. Suggestions?

Maybe then we could do some group presentations and seminars on z-day.

Offhand, I'd say look into events statewide falling around March 15th. Then see if there are any that would be somewhat compatible with a showing of Zeitgeist. Afterall, what if you set it up in Morgantown during the week of a big Pentacostal tent revival? (although that would be sort of funny, I think what would ensue would be ulitmatly counter productive). Generally, a gathering of young people is best, or maybe a reunion of some old school hippie types. I'd offer up my town, since Concord University is here, but this town is way too small, and with a Masonic Lodge as the town meeting place*(see footnote), and a church every 40 feet or so, I don't think it would go over all too well. Anyway, glad to be of help in anyway I can. If a location is picked, I definitly want to be there!
*I find it odd that there are no actual town meetings in Athens that include the townspeople, but there are regular Masonic meetings, and I'm fairly certain that is how all town decisions are formed around here. Maybe nothing ground breaking there, but I do find it a bit odd reguardless.

I'd gladly go wherever the event is. Unfortunately, even though I was raised in WV I am not that familiar with its geography. What are the pros vs. cons of having it in Lewisburg? And maybe we'd want it in a more centralized location, like Charleston?

I would definitely go with a more centralized location like charleston or huntington for the simple fact of the possible turnout of a denser populated city/town. For charleston is the capitol, and one of the more densly populated cities in the state. The college towns; Morgantown and Huntington are both located around the edges of the state making travel more longer than needed for charleston is more centralized geographically
